Discover Your Ring Size

This is a step-by-step guide to measure your ring size at home using charts and conversion charts of ring sizes, along with some other tips which will prove helpful.

Two Ways To Measure For a Ring

Materials Needed:

  • Printer and paper
  • String, yarn, floss, or a thin strip of paper
  • Pen or marker
  • Ruler

Steps:

  1. Choose the Finger & Time: Target the correct finger. Do this late afternoon/evening.
  2. Wrap: Wrap the string or paper snugly (but not tight) around the base of the finger. It should slide over the knuckle comfortably but not be loose. Think "comfortably snug."
  3. Mark: Mark the point where the string/paper overlaps completely.
  4. Measure: Straighten the string/paper and measure the length between the mark and the end in millimeters (mm). This is your finger's circumference.

Materials Needed:

  • Printer and paper
  • Scissors

Steps:

  1. Select the Ring: Choose a ring that fits the finger the new ring is for and is a similar width to the new ring.
  2. Measure the Inside Diameter:
  • Place the ring on a ruler.
  • Measure the straight-across distance inside the band from one inner edge to the opposite inner edge in millimeters (mm).

Measure the Inside Circumference (Alternative):

  • Wrap a thin strip of paper tightly around the inside of the ring. Mark where it overlaps.
  • Unwrap and measure the length in mm.
  • Match this circumference measurement to a ring size chart.

Helpful Ring Sizing Tips

When you’re measuring ring size, don’t forget these useful tips.

  • 1.

Avoid measuring a ring size when cold, as the fingers are half a size smaller.

  • 2.

Best time of the day is in the evening since this is when they are at their largest.

  • 3.

At least 3 measurements should be taken to have complete assurance of getting the correct size reading.

Ring Size Chart

All our rings are manufactured according to standard US sizes. Use the chart on this page to identify which US size corresponds with the finger circumference and how it converts into other sizes. This is the same for engagement, wedding, and fashion rings.

Ring Size Tips

  • Our dominant hands are generally slightly larger – measure the hand you plan to wear the ring on.

  • Consider the design of your ring. Rings with wider bands will fit tighter. Plan to size up by at least a half size for chunky bands (>4mm) and size down accordingly for very thin designs (<1.3mm). Note that ring sizes are generally measured in millimeters (mm) and are not sized by inch.

  • Ensure your body temperature is normal – fingers tend to shrink when cold and expand when hot.

  • Fingers change size throughout the day based on the water we drink and the food we eat – the best time to measure is towards the middle or end of the day.

  • If your knuckle is pronounced, you may want to measure both the knuckle and the base of the finger. Then, choose a size in between those measurements as rings need to fit over the knuckle but not be too loose or tight to wear comfortably.
